In a galaxy far far away..

Yes! I’m so excited that I had to share this here. Star Wars Episode VIII The Last Jedi just released its first trailer. It is slated to hit cinemas on Dec 15, 2017 in time for the Christmas season.

Reprising the role of Luke Skywalker is Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa, this will probably be a tribute to her and the last movie she filmed before she passed away. Of course the movie is not complete without the dark side, returning as the villain Kylo Ren is Adam Driver and to complete the balance of the force, Daisy Ridley returns as Rey. John Boyega as Finn, will also be returning as well as Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, an X-wing fighter pilot.

This is the 8th installment of the franchise and throughout the years the movies have amassed a cult following eagerly waiting for the next film installment. I myself is a huge fan. I first watched the trilogy when I was in grade school and to give a hint on how not so far ago that was, I watched the movies on VHS tapes.

It’s now time for the new generation of actors to step in but they have some big shoes to fill. I can only imagine the pressure they’re feeling. So far the previous movies after the trilogy were well received but I’m not sure where the story will go after this. If this is the last Jedi, who will star in the next film then? I’m sure of one thing though, this will not be the last.

It’s amusing how the special effects and cinematography have developed since the 1st movie was released. It has definitely come a long way. When I was re-watching the trilogy, I cannot help but notice how awkward the light saber battles were and it seems the actors were having a hard time filming it, you can just feel it. Anyway, these things make the trilogy a classic watch.

This upcoming movie picks up from where Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens ended. That scene on the cliff where Rey met Luke Skywalker face to face for the first time. Helming the directorial seat is Rian Johnson. The sequel, Episode IX will be the final installment of the sequel trilogy and will be directed by Colin Trevorrow, with a story treatment by Johnson.

While waiting for Dec 15, here’s the first trailer of Star Wars Episode VIII The Last Jedi. Enjoy!
